LDGA RULES

Our aim, as a golf association, is to make golf enjoyable and stress-free as our members improve their golf skills. We therefore, have more relaxed rules than those of the Royal Canadian Golf Association. Members are encouraged however, to learn the rules, even if we are not applying all of them in our Monday play. Whether you score is up to you but if you do not submit a card with your group names on it [firsts & lasts] on the Bag Lunch day, you will not be eligible for any prizes.

Many of our members belong to the Nottawasaga Golf Club and they maintain a handicap. R.C.G.A. rules will apply to those members who are entering their scores into the computer.

  • We all play ready golf. Please take your shot if the others are not ready. [rakiing sand, walking to their ball, etc.]
  • Please keep up with the group ahead of you.
  • All members are expected to follow all the rules of golf etiquette [see below].
  • All members are required to pick up after 7 strokes on the fairway and move the ball to the green.
  • All members are required to pick up their ball after 3 strokes on the green.
  • The maximum score per hole is 10.
  • Our goal is to play 9 holes in under 2 1/4 hours.

LDGA ETIQUETTE

  • Please show respect and be quiet while a golfer is playing her shot.
  • Please stand away from the golfer playing her shot. Watch that your shadow is not in her path or on the hole.
  • Prepare for your shot discreetly while the other golfers are playing so that you are ready to take your turn.
  • Wait until the players ahead of you are far enough away before playing,
  • OR if a person knows that she cannot hit that far, she should go first.
  • Look for a lost ball no more than 3 minutes.
  • Leave the green as soon as your group has putted out but NEVER before all are finished.
  • Drive your cart up to the pin, so when you are done, those behind you can play. Do not leave your cart behind you.
  • Wait until the next tee to record scores.
  • Replace all divots and ball marks on the green.
  • Erase footprints and all other marks in the sand trap.
  • Do not walk a long distance from your cart to make your shot. Move the cart to beside your ball each shot. Do not leave your cart behind you.
  • If you remove the flag (not necessary any more), replace it correctly when leaving the green.
  • The player whose ball is furthest from the cup always plays first UNLESS she is fixing a sand trap or is in an unusual position which may slow up play. Then, Ready Golf rules should apply.
  • Always keep the cart 30 feet away from the green and follow the “NO CART” signs. Pull the cart up even with the pin.
  • Keep up with the group ahead of you, not the group behind you. Chat when it is not your turn to shoot.
  • Have fun!
